Power market analyst and modeller
Maria Kannavou has six years of experience as an energy analyst; her expertise includes power market analysis, energy system analysis and modelling. She has participated in scenario-based analysis of climate policies and power markets, investments assessment and studies in support of EU policy-making in view of the transition towards a low-carbon economy. Maria has also contributed in an array of projects including capacity adequacy and capacity mechanisms studies and exercises assessing the interlinkages of the energy-water-climate nexus. She is leading the energy supply modelling team of the PRIMES model, being responsible for the development of new models and further improvement of existing ones. Maria holds an MSc in Electrical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). She is also currently finalising her PhD research focusing on issues arising from the integration of high shares of renewable energy sources in competitive markets.
